Pre-Spliced Kits

Pre-spliced kits that have a hand spliced eye at one end. Each splice has been internally whipped for added strength and are heat shrunk and whipped at the tail.

These are best used for vessels docked at floating pontoons or at a floating marina berth. The eye is looped over the vessels cleats and the tail is fastened to the marina or floating pontoons docking cleats. Keep a set on board for ease of docking at local marina’s, rafting up with friends or coastal cruising.

Custom Solutions

Private berths and pens with a combination of floating pontoons and fixed pile systems require a custom solution.

DLS offer custom docking line solutions whereby generally a precise length of cordage is spliced at both ends and the eye is fixed to a solid structure e.g. a pile, floating pile ring or floating pontoon with the other eye attached to the vessel’s cleats.

Our Vision

In 2008, after managing numerous private and commercial vessels with Pacific Marine Management, I noticed that many boats were poorly secured to wharves and marinas. With my experience as a commercial captain and my skills in splicing lines, I started offering a service to improve the safety and security of my clients’ vessels. This service was designed to enhance their overall boating experience and give them peace of mind when docking.

I often observed that families and friends faced challenges during docking, with one partner at the helm and the other handling the lines. This could lead to stressful situations, especially when communication was difficult or conditions were less than ideal. I began developing custom systems to make the process smoother, easier, and more enjoyable for everyone involved.

Sixteen years on, I am still dedicated to creating custom docking line solutions that allow families to enjoy their boats safely and confidently. Using durable, Australian-made cordage crafted to the highest standards, I aim to ensure that vessels can be secured quickly and effectively in all conditions, making every outing a pleasure from departure to return.

FAQs

Docking lines are lengths of cordage commonly referred to as ropes that attach a vessel to a fixed or floating structure e.g. a floating pontoon, pile or wharf.

Docking lines are used when docking or disembarking at a home berth or Marina.

They can be fixed at a home berth or stowed as a set on board for use at various berths when travelling on a voyage around the coast or between marinas.

A docking line system is a group of precisely spliced lines that secure your vessel and prevent damage.

Docking lines are continuously working and endure the harsh Australian weather elements, wave, vessel wash and tidal variations throughout the year.

They also provide ease of use for departure and arrival at berths, pens, pontoons and marinas.

All types of vessels require docking lines including Superyachts, sailing yachts, motor yachts, ribs, fishing boats, ski boats, jet ski’s, speed boats, catamaran’s, multihull’s, pontoon and party boats, commercial boats, charter boats and military vessels.

When washing the salt off your boat it is a good idea to rinse the salt from your lines with fresh water and allow to dry naturally in the sun. When not in use keep your Docking lines out of the salt water to prevent barnacles and marine growth.
